DR. YOHANNES ZELEKE, FOUNDER & PRESIDENT
Dr. Zeleke is a sought after tourism specialist who has dedicated his life’s work to tourism development and the preservation of cultural heritage in Africa. Dr. Zeleke is the Mid-Atlantic Chapter President of the Africa Travel Association (ATA) and President and Founder of African Legend Tours.
Dr. Zeleke, an archaeologist and anthropologist, has been a research collaborator at the U.S. National Museum of Natural History since 2004. From 2000-2006, Dr. Zeleke was an Adjunct Professor in Archaeology and Anthropology at George Washington University and American University in Washington, D.C. Dr. Zeleke was also the former curator for the National Museum of Ethiopia and former Research Associate of the Russian Academy of Sciences Museum of Anthropology and Ethnography (Kunstkamera). Dr. Zeleke’s research interests include prehistoric archaeology, social and cultural anthropology, human origin and social development, prehistoric and ethnographic art and history, and the history of the Ethiopian Jews. He has worked with many research teams in Africa, Central Asia, the Caucasus, Russia, and Europe. Dr. Zeleke resides in Washington, D.C.
Dr. Zeleke is the recipient of several fellowships: University of California-Berkeley, the British Museum, and the Russian Geographical Society.
